The Landsknecht Casualties set contains four characterful wounded and fallen soldiers, designed to add atmosphere and realism to Renaissance battlefields.
Landsknechts were famous for their flamboyant dress and formidable reputation as mercenary infantry, but warfare during the Italian Wars could be exceptionally brutal. Dense formations of pikemen fought at very close quarters, while arquebuses, artillery, halberds and two-handed weapons added to the dangers faced by troops on the battlefield. Casualties could be heavy, particularly when a pike formation lost cohesion or a defeated force was pursued.
These 28mm figures represent both wounded and dead Landsknechts and can be used in a variety of ways. Place them amongst fighting units to show the progress of a battle, use them as casualty or disorder markers, or add them to battlefield aftermath, camp, siege and skirmish scenes. They also make useful objectives or scenario markers for narrative games.
The varied poses and distinctive Landsknecht clothing make the figures an atmospheric addition to Italian Wars armies and other early 16th-century collections.
